How the 'Type of Woman Men Like' Can Ruin Your Dating Life

ByTommy O Coffler
It can be pretty funny how men and women perceive the dating game. Sometimes men think there aren't enough women to go around or that all the good women are already attached. At the same time, some women are just desperate to have one man notice them, but all they do is overlook her. Sounds like two different situations? It isn't. It all boils down to the type of woman men like.
This problem happens everywhere. Men have a type of woman they tend to prefer. These preferences can be physical, something about their personality, or just a vibe they can't explain. But as a result of having these preferences, they begin to ignore any woman who doesn't fit into their ideal picture. Women, on the other hand, tend to be too shy to go up to a man, and those that have the guts to do it are usually the ones that already fall into their type or are too intimidating for some guys.
To address this problem, women need to find confidence and to work on their self-esteem, but that is a completely different discussion. This discussion is about the side of men. You may not realize it (and really most men don't realize they have a type until it's pointed out to them) but sticking to the type of woman men like can be really detrimental to your dating life.
When you are after just one type of woman, you are hindering your overall success. You are blocking yourself from seeing all the other different beautiful women out there, and naturally this is detrimental to your dating. Say you walk into a party and the type of woman you like is either taken or not around, you begin to think that the party is a bust, you don't even want to try to get to know the other women in the room. Just like that, you have made yourself fail, and you have lessened your chances of meeting someone really great. Still wondering why it's so hard to find someone? Well, maybe it's cause you have your horse blinders on!
So, as a guy, what should you do? Simple. Next time you go out, go out with the goal of meeting and talking to someone who isn't your type. Say you're a fan of women who dress provocatively. Why not approach a woman who seems shy and conservative? You never know, she may just be the type of woman you've have always wanted to meet!
If you always go for the type of woman men like, then you have a lot to learn! Check out GuyGetsGirl.com today and learn all about how you can get the girl you've always wanted!

How Important Is the Chase As Part of the Dating Ritual?

The chase - how do you define it? A challenge? Mind games? Playing hard to get, or witty retorts? I guess it's all down to perception. But one thing's for sure, love it or loath it, it's the spark that ignites and fuels the dating ritual.
Casting your mind back, the first 'chase' you probably experienced or witnessed was kiss chase in the school playground. The girls who stood still and did not present much of a challenge were simply overlooked. It was the girls that were running around and screaming that the boys pursed. Perhaps this reinforces the notion that men like a challenge and the women who give them the chase are the ones that will get their attention?
What's your opinion? I guess it's going to be influenced by the experiences that you have had. Based on a number of single men and women that I spoke to, it appears that men want to date women that at some level they feel lucky and have earned a place to be with. Therefore the onus to chase certainly would be on the man. I can't help but think that theorists are right when they say at their very core men will always be hunters & gathers. Running with this theory, when a man goes out hunting he is competing with his fellow huntsmen to return back to the camp with the biggest kill so he can show off. If he finds his prey quickly, momentarily he is likely to be pleased with himself but his satisfaction levels will decline rapidly. He's now left wondering that if with hardly any effort I have caught a prey, what could I be capable of catching if I continue hunting by putting in more effort and going further into the forest to explore? Could I do better than my fellow huntsmen? Whilst the reality is that there's no guarantee that he would find a better, or bigger prey it's unlikely to stop him trying and devaluing a perfectly good prey that he has already caught...
Based on my research, it appears that for once both men & women are on the same page - women believe men need a chase to sustain their interest and men are attracted to the challenge! But despite their beliefs, there is a split camp in both genders. Starting with the women - there are those who like to be chased and those who think it is a total waste of time. For those who like to be chased, primarily it validates that a man is genuinely interested in her and not just after a quick bunk up. It also feeds into her ego that she is 'worth the effort' and special to him in a way that is different from other people in his life.
Then there are women who believe that the chase is a complete waste of time. They lead busy lives and if they're dating someone that they like, they just want them to get on with it. However, busy lifestyles also equate to limited personal time for all. If a man is then presented with an option to choose a date with a woman he likes but what he sees is what he gets. Or a date with a woman that he equally likes but she is mysterious, he doesn't know how she feels, she intrigues him by keeping him on his toes with her words & actions, which one is he likely to pick, given his busy schedule?
For men that enjoy the chase, it feeds into their egos. It makes them feel powerful and reinforces their masculinity. When they look at the women that they have won over, they feel pleased, appreciative and proud of their achievement. Just to exemplify this, the chase is a lot like a negotiation. If the seller accepts the first price offered, a man will feel dissatisfied and wished he had gone in at a lower price. Despite attaining the goods he may feel they were not worth their value. However, if the man's price had led to a haggling opportunity with the seller, he would have his work cut out to get his desired price. But he would then walk away with a greater level of satisfaction and the same goods would now be perceived to be of a higher value.
As for the men who claim that the chase is a waste of time and a sign of immaturity, I wonder how they interpret 'the chase'. Because arguably whether they realise it or not, they are still 'chasing' for the woman's interest & approval in the form of organising thoughtful dates, initiating witty banter and basically bringing out their 'A-game' on a date to ensure that there is a next one...
Just to be clear, the chase should not be confused with playing malicious mind games, or a way to build up a list of conquests. It's the process of wooing the object of one's affection. Whilst it appears that the preference is that it is instigated by the man, at some point there has to be a healthy level of 'push & pull' between both people. If it's one-sided, with no response or interest (this should not be perceived as a bigger challenge), there has to be a cut off point otherwise it starts bordering on the side of stalking. Ultimately, when you're in the early stages of dating, it's the chase that fuels the excitement and build up of not knowing what the other person is planning, thinking, or feeling. It keeps you interested and on your toes. And when you finally experience the gratification of becoming an exclusive couple, you can breathe a sigh of relief as the chase has finally paid off!

Understanding Body Language When Dating

ByTommy O Coffler
It happens all too often that a guy comes back from a date telling his friends that he thinks it went really well, just to find out a few days or weeks later than the woman hasn't agreed to going out with him again. He often wonders where he went wrong, thinking back to the conversations he had on his date. The classic mistake he's making is that he's focusing on what the woman said instead of how she reacted to different things. Basically, he has no understanding of body language.
Understanding body language can really help you become a better date and have a better dating life. By looking at the actions or reactions of a woman instead of listening to what she says, you can better determine how a date or relationship is going. It isn't that they mean to lie, but in order to be polite, plenty of women will say they had a good time when they didn't. Because of this, you have to look for the cues that tell you she really had a good time.
When on a date, there are two kinds of body language you need to watch out for. These are negative and positive. Let's look at the negative signs:
1) She's Holding Something Between You
When a woman his holding something between you, maybe her drink or her phone, or something else, she is putting distance between you. She is creating a barrier. This is very telling. What she's trying to do is make sure you don't come too close. Perhaps she isn't comfortable with how the night is going or the conversation. Pick up on this sign.
2) She's Turned Away
If a woman is turned away while you're talking to her, if her face is at an angle facing outward, or maybe you notice that she keeps glancing elsewhere, she might be bored. This isn't a good thing when you're on a date. Try changing topics or suggesting a change in location. You still may be able to recapture her attention.
3) Her Arms Are Crossed
This is a sign of defense, and a very obvious sign that she isn't comfortable. Many people who are upset with someone they are speaking to, cross their arms. It's psychological, but it's a way of protecting themselves. If this happens during your date, try to figure out what might be the problem.
When understanding body language, it is important that you also pick up on cues that suggest she may need something or may need more attention. For example, if a woman is hugging herself (different from crossing her arms) she may be cold. Offer her your jacket. If you see that she is fidgety, playing with her fingers, or has her hands on her lap, she may be nervous. Ask her if she's okay and suggest a change in location if she's not digging the scene. See? Simply by understanding body language, you can become a more attentive and a better date!

Online Dating - Protecting Your Privacy Online

ByJames Thomas Jones
As online dating and social networking continues to grow and becomes more the normal, it increases the chance of your personal details being exposed to people whom you wish it wasn't. What is needed to combat these issues you will no doubt run into is a set of guidelines in order to stay safe while at the same time finding the correct person for you.
Typically you should avoid large free chat rooms, they are usually filled with people who are not serious about dating and are there for other reasons. I suggest you find smaller websites that suit your needs, generally paid dating websites are better as they weed out the one's who are not serious and provide better results.
Once you find a good dating website/chatroom to begin your search, only give out as much information as you feel comfortable with. Be wary of people who ask for details that you wouldn't normally provide to a stranger, because remember you are still talking to people you have never met before. Wait till you make a true connection with someone before giving out details that they could contact you outside of the website.
Be a member of the service for more then just a couple of days and participate until you understand what kind of people visit. You don't want to get involved with people who could take advantage with you. Also it helps to trust your 'gut instinct' when talking to people.
Maintain communication on the dating website or on a dedicated email address until you are 100% sure you want to take it further. Remember once you provide your phone number they can ring anytime and give it out to others so make sure you are ready to make that step.
When finally making the decision to meet, choose a safe location that is comfortable for you and the other person. Typically a public place such as a coffee shop or in a open area with lots of people around, you could even have it in another suburb other then where you live to be extra safe. Other great places to go is a fair, park, or even a festival with lots of people around. No matter where you decide to go, let your friends and family know where you are going and when you should be home.
Should you find yourself matching up with quite a few people online, you could consider setting up a PO Box and what I like to call a throw away email account so just in case you come across someone who doesn't fit the description and isn't what you want you can just change it and not worry about being contacted again.
Safety Online is the first thing to look at when taking the big step into cyberspace and that is even more so when looking for a partner. For more details on dating advice be sure to check us out, And Don't forget to stay safe!

ByAdword Smith
Asking someone out for a date is never easy. It takes a lot of courage and confidence to approach someone and ask for a date. There is the fear of rejection that you will be turned down. This is the reason why shy people have a hard time finding dates.
If you are in a bar with your group of friends and you spot someone who really attracts you then you need to overcome that shyness in order to approach the person and start a conversation. In this kind of situation, it is also normal to feel afraid that the person will ignore you which would really embarrass you in front of your friends.
If you are having a hard time with dating because you are too shy then online sites is the answer to your dilemma. Online dating sites save you the trouble of having to introduce yourself because your information will be posted on your profile. You can browse through the profile of the other members as well and read about their interests and other information.
Online dating sites also have chat rooms where you can engage in conversation with other members. Joining the chat rooms of online sites, allows you to feel comfortable. You can start by joining in on the general conversation. In time you will meet other members who will catch your interest and chat with them exclusively. Most importantly, online sites allow you to ask someone on a date in complete privacy without your friends having to witness any of it. Dating Tips for Safe Online Dating

ByRich L Coppersmith
The popularity of online dating is increasing each year. It has become a very effective way to meet people with similar interests that you may have never met outside the internet.
Although online dating can be a fantastic method for dating matchups, safe dating habits is a must! Below are a few habits you should incorporate into a first date on your online dating endeavors.
Meet in a public place where there are many people aroundTell a friend, family member or someone where you are goingTell someone any details you have about this person (name, phone #, where they live)Always keep a phone with youHave a predetermined time you will call someone or they will call youDo not share personal information (your last name, where you work or live)Avoid drinking alcoholIf things don't feel right, don't hesitate to end the date earlyKeep the initial date to a public place (don't go to their place)
Always remember:
Meet in a Public Place for Your First Meeting - When it's time to schedule that first exciting face-to-face meeting, arrange to meet in a public place and provide your own transportation. Your initial meeting will tell you a lot about the other person, including whether or not he/she lied in their profile. Your gut instincts will kick in. Never accept an offer to be picked up at your house and be vague when discussing the location of your house. Make sure that a friend knows where you are, who you are with and what time you expect to return.
Trust Your Gut Instinct - Your instinct is a powerful medium for knowing when something doesn't feel right. It is also a great way to measure when to move forward with someone and when to turn and run. As you read profiles, responses to emails, have phone conversations, and meet in person your instincts help tell you if something is "right" or if something is out of alignment. The "out of alignment" message is your cue to be careful, back off, or proceed with extreme caution. Trust your gut instinct, it's the most powerful psychological tool you have at your disposal. It may be uncomfortable to end a date early but it's better than putting yourself at risk.
Keep these tips in mind on your future first dates and you'll help protect yourself against any online predators.

Ten Tips for Online Dating Safety

ByJames Lawrie
Safety first is an essential principle when it comes to online dating. Dating site users should remember that the vast majority of people in all walks of life are decent and have honorable intentions. Nonetheless there is always that small minority of people with bad intentions. Don't let then spoil your experience of dating sites but do be alert and follow our ten simple steps to protect yourself.
1) Keep your computer safe and if someone sends you a data or picture file then scan it for viruses.
2) Don't post personal data that might compromise you safety in your online dating site profile.
3) Use a reputable site. There are many sites to choose from. Check to see if they have an active policy of deleting the profiles of scammers and potential predators. Of course that doesn't mean the dating site owners will root out every fake profile or ill-intentioned member but it should mean a safer and more pleasant experience.
4) Research all the usual scams and don't be too naïve. If a proposition sounds too good to be true then it probably is. If someone 20 years younger with a beautiful model like photo expresses early undying love for you then the alarm bells should ring. Requests for money should also be an early warning sign.
5) Do chat to your potential dating partner over the 'phone, in Skype or Yahoo before meeting to see if they are who they depict themselves to be in their profile. Follow your intuition and if something does not feel right then maybe you are quite right to be wary.
6) Always meet in a public place and tell a friend or family member where you are going and the time you will be returning.
7) Take you mobile phone with you and ask a friend to call you in the middle of the date. If it is not going well and you feel uneasy this provides the perfect opportunity for you say something has cropped up and you can give your excuses and leave.
8) Don't be shy to bring along a friend to a first date.
9) Watch your drink closely and don't give any opportunity for anyone to slip something into it.
10) Be assertive, if your date on the first meeting asks you to go for a drive or somewhere out of your comfort zone you can and should say no thank-you.
Online dating is the modern and ideal way for people from all walks of life to meet dating partners or even their soulmate. It can and should be fun but stay alert to the minority who can spoil it. Trust your gut instinct and use common sense at all times.

Improve Your Success in the Dating Scene

Almost no one would argue that dating is always easy. Though dating is designed to be fun, there can come a point in our lives where our lack of what we consider success to be can leave us disillusioned, lonely and feeling like a failure at love.
Unfortunately, once we begin to have these feelings of disillusionment, we often change our dating behavior, and this is when we may make the situation even worse.
Focusing on dating and on finding a partner is important, but when it becomes too much of a priority, it can also cause big problems, because we begin to try too hard, and may compromise our own desires in the process. In addition, we may look desperate to potential partners, which is a huge turnoff. Here are some things to try to help you improve your dating situation and your life - at the same time.
1. Get a Life - Many people spend their evenings hanging out at bars or searching the Internet for dates. And, while both of these are perfectly fine ways to meet someone, they're not the only ways to meet someone, and they leave you with the feeling that the time spent was worthless if you didn't meet someone. Instead, pursue something you really enjoy, such as a sport or a hobby that gets you out and mingling. You may very well meet someone with similar interests, but even if you don't, you've had fun.
2. Make a life - Stop putting off the things you want to do because you always thought you would do them with a partner. Buy a house, take a fabulous vacation or move to another part of the world. Pursue your dreams, with or without a partner. Once you have a full life on your own, you'll be happier, and you're much more likely to attract someone.
3. Take stock of your expectations. Many people get nowhere with dating because their expectations are unrealistic. Some people wind up with no dates because they're simply too picky, and rule out potential dates over things like having been married before, having children or looking for someone in a very narrow age range. These people need to broaden their horizons and be open to different types of people. On the other hand, some people don't set their standards high enough. These people go on a lot of dates, but don't end up in a meaningful relationship because they pick the wrong people.
4. Lighten up. It's never a good idea to have huge expectations of a first date. It can make you look like you're trying too hard or that you're desperate. It can also lead you to be very disappointed if the date doesn't turn out the way you'd hoped. Consider a first date simply as an opportunity to get to know someone and have a good time. The only decision you need to make about the person at the end of the evening is whether or not you'd go out with them again.
5. Put yourself out there. We've talked a lot about not looking desperate and not trying too hard. Those are important things to keep in mind. However, another primary reason why people find themselves lonely and dateless is that they don't make finding a relationship a priority in their life, and they don't put themselves in situations that might help them find someone. Working long hours and eating takeout in front of the television every night isn't a great way to meet people. The patterns you've had in the past haven't worked, so it's time to come up with new ones. The love of your life is not going to knock on your front door. So, it's important for you to make time in your life to do things that you enjoy and that will help you to meet potential partners.
Smile, laugh, and be friendly to strangers. Enjoy the company of your friends and family and get out and do things you enjoy. Put yourself in situations where you're certain to meet new people, focusing on an activity you'll enjoy, not on whether or not the people you meet will be potential dates.
All of these things will help to give you a happy life. When you have a happy life, you're no longer obsessing about the fact that you don't have a partner, yet you're out doing exactly the things that will attract a partner. Love will hit you when you're not looking.
Dating is a delicate balance of putting yourself in a position where opportunities can present themselves, acting on those opportunities and yet not tying your self-esteem and happiness to being in a relationship. When you can master this delicate balance, you give yourself the very best chance of finding that special someone and of loving the life you have all along the way.

Dating and Relationships: 5 Things Women Do That Turn Men Off

Women who find themselves lacking in the dating department should ask themselves if they are making any of the mistakes listed in this article. Men are funny creatures and, like deer, spook easily. Say the wrong thing and they are likely to bolt right out the door after making a lame excuse. In order to play the dating game like a pro (which means winning) you need to know how men think and what makes them tick. Once you know how a man thinks you will start attracting them instead of repelling them. Here are a few common mistakes women make when it comes to dating:
Talk About Your Ex
Women like to talk about themselves and the topic of conversation is usually men. Talking with your girlfriends is ok, but you should never talk about your exes with a date. If you talk to them about other guys they assume you will talk about them to others as well.
Dress too sexy
When going on a first date it is important to dress appropriately, this means conservatively. You want to show off your best assets but that does not mean dressing slutty. A dress that is too low cut or too short will have him thinking of sex instead of listening to what you have to say. If things work out you can dress any way you want later when the two of you are intimate.
Try Too Hard to Impress
The best advice when dating someone new is to just be yourself. Often times we try too hard to impress someone and end up turning them off instead. Never try too hard to get a guy. You do not have to like the same football team he does or like the same food or have the same habits. It is nice to have some things in common but it is not required. Never lie about what you like or do not like just to impress him. Eventually he will find out you lied and it will bow up in your face.
Drink Too Much
Make it a rule never to have more than two drinks on a date. It is very easy to overdo it and end up spilling the beans on everything. Everyone has their emotional baggage but when you drink too much you get too relaxed and before you know it you have told him everything that has happened in your life since high school. It is a good idea to have a mental list of topics for conversation to avoid those awkward moments of silence that often cause people to drink too much to begin with.
Talk Too Much
Women love to talk, it is a part of our nature but there is such a thing as talking too much. Let him talk about himself to avoid monopolizing the conversation. It is better to retain a little mystery and let him want to find out more about you. To do that,he will have to ask you out again.

Center yourself with a couple of breaths. Think of something you really dislike. It could be bologna sandwiches, someone who was mean to you, heavy metal, or fingernails going down a chalkboard. Something that gives you a big NO! NO! NO!
Notice the sensations in your back. This is where most of the kundalini energy will rise. So if it's something that doesn't give you pleasure, the energy will shift and go down back into the earth. This is where we DO NOT want to go. The earth has enough going on already. We want this energy to shift upward, because we want to raise our vibration and do what makes our spirit feel good. Because it's what is good for us.
Stay centered and keep breathing. Now think of something else. I like the idea of a boring grey wall. It won't hurt you, but it doesn't really bring you joy either. This is your grey area of MAYBE. You can take it or leave it. This is the sensation of the feeling in your spine staying still. Not going up. Not going down. It's just kind of there. You can tune into this sensation. It may rest in your stomach, your head or the center of your back. Just pay attention to your body and your feelings.
Now you are going to shift the energy up in a big way!
Think of something you really like. Something that when you flip that 8 ball it will give you a BIG BIG BIG YES! YES! YES! Let's keep it simple. Let's imagine your favorite outfit or dress. You know the one. When you wear it, you feel like a million bucks. You feel like a super sexy! When you wear this piece you know you're gonna turn heads. Now imagine the eight ball, and make it whatever color you like. Whatever brings you pleasure and makes you feel really good.
This 8 ball is a big one and when you put on that dress it actually will talk to you. It will say YES! YES! YES! You can read the magic 8 ball YES! Your body will speak to you. YES! And your body will feel this energy going up. YES! Keep the passion up in your body for this. Imagine your favorite dress saying YES! To you. Imagine this YES! traveling up your spine. Feel the energy rise. Because this is how the energy will flow in your body when it's a good positive feeling, and is healthy for you.
Pay attention to the energy in your spine because this is the central channel and it is way to feel the energy travel there. You can use this technique to ask yourself any question. Take 3 deep breaths and get your body into the habit of being centered and relaxed. When it's a wishy-washy maybe, you could go either way, and it probably won't hurt you if you go forward with your question or not.
If you feel the energy pulling downward toward the earth, don't do it. I actually tested this today. I parked in a permit parking zone thinking I could get away with it, my brain told me I could, and the energy in my spine told me to move the car. But my brain wanted to make sure what my body was telling me was right. The energy was right, as usual! I went back to my car in a bout 15 minutes with $20 parking ticket. I knew it! But my brain wanted to do this experiment, and it cost me 20 bucks. I guess that's a pretty small price to pay to make sure my intuition is on.
When you're single and dating this is a great tool to use, because it is always right on. You can ask yourself these types of questions.
Should I stay focused on what I'm doing?Should I call him and interrupt my flow?Should I call him right away?Should I go out with him last minute?
Your body will not lie to you. Your brain might want to argue, but you've got to make sure you listen to the wise advice. The advice from your magic 8 ball and not your ego.
When you got it. You got it. And we all got it, but you have to listen when it speaks in its subtle voice. Trust this energy flow in your body. It is connected to source and will not lead you astray. This energy and way you feel is your compass that will lead you in the right direction. The right direction is up toward the light, not the darkness. This magic 8 ball inside of you will not let you down, just make sure you listen to what it has to say.

How to Choose a Jewish Dating Site (And The BIG Secret To Finding Love Online)

ByAnna Houck
Who else is thinking about starting the New Year with a RED hot romance? Are you single, Jewish and trying to figure out the best way to meet other single Jews? Maybe you've considered lots of mainstream general online dating sites, or even small "niche" Jewish community sites that cater to your specific religious affiliation? (e.g. - there are now sites for super religious Jews, Reform Jews, and just about every other possible permutation as well)
I'm going to give you the easiest way to truly find your match if you are super serious about online dating, and I'm also going to tell you WHY this strategy is the best to boot. Curious to know why? Continue reading as we take a closer look below.
The truth is, I've belonged to just about every dating site under the sun at one point or another. And, as someone in my mid 30's at this point, it's grown increasingly important to me to meet someone who FITS at least MOST of my primary priorities.
And to be TOTALLY honest with you, while I've dated people from all religions, races and ethnicities, as I get older... it just is MORE important to me than ever before, to marry someone who shares my faith. Who shares in my culture, and the traditions, and backgrounds of my family and close friends.
What I found myself doing on the mainstream dating sites, the ones that everyone belongs to, was actually searching for other Jews, simply because that has become super important to me.
And of course, out of hundreds of thousands of members... we were only a very small percentage of the whole, meaning the chances of meeting my potential perfect partner, percentage wise... was not great.
Then I went the OPPOSITE route, and joined the super small Jewish dating sites that catered to my geographical area, or even to the branch of Judaism I follow.
This time, the results were FAR too small to really have a good opportunity to meet my match.
Finally, I decided to join the most mainstream Jewish dating site, with hundreds of thousands of members, and thousands of testimonials, success stories and couples to finally had found love.
The reason I went this route....even though I had resisted it for a long while was simple!
Both of my sisters fell in love with men they met on this site. (and now my first niece as well!)
My TOP recommendation for people looking to fall in love online, AND who are Jewish like me?
Go out OFTEN. Say YES, even when saying no is easier. (even if you don't think the person on the other end is going to be a love connection, I truly have made some great friends, and had some great adventures with people I knew would NOT be a romantic match)
Keep it light. Don't write your life story on your profile... and don't use bad cliches, or appear to take yourself too seriously. I've found that being FUNNY is the best way to attract other cool people, and not scaring away others by being super serious about "my match."
Don't use professional pictures. Why? Because unless you walk around with professional lighting and a stylist, you are NOT reflecting the "you" that he or she is going to meet when you first say Hi. Be real. That's really the key to everything in life, and when it comes to meeting others online, being true to who you are is the key to finding your perfect match.
Lastly... have fun! Dating sites, especially those that cater to small niches (like Jewish dating) have truly changed the landscape of the relationship space. A Rabbi told me last year that HALF of his marriages now are those that emanated from an online meeting... as that percentage is ONLY going to go up as they're popularity continues to rise!

Top 5 Christmas Dating Mistakes

ByJessica A Parker
Dating can be tricky any time of year, but when it comes to the Christmas season, there are a few dating mistakes you should avoid at all costs! Here are the and how to avoid them, so you can enjoy an emotionally-sound season.
1. Getting personal at the office Christmas party
Some people do meet their partners at work and in most cases this doesn't cause any problems at all. But the office Christmas party can lead to some pretty unusual behaviour and it's wise to think twice before acting on any advances! If you're already dating someone at work then keeping appearances professional in front of the boss is still a good idea. If you'd like to be dating someone from your office, and one of you makes a move, just consider the repercussions if your office party antics become common knowledge - and aim to keep your private life private.
2. Acting on impaired judgement
'Tis the season to be merry, but just make sure your merry-making doesn't have lasting consequences that you will regret! Alcohol is flowing at Christmas time, and whether you're already dating someone, or you would like to start a new relationship, make sure you don't make any major dating decisions when your judgement might be impaired. For example, it's very easy to send emotionally charged text messages late at night after a boozy Christmas party, but virtually impossible to take them back when you realise what you've done the next morning!
3. Sending out the wrong messages
One of the most fun things about dating at Christmas is that you can really pull out all the stops when it comes to glitz and glamour. Single guys and girls alike would be wise to pamper themselves, dress up and look their very best at this time of year, but beware of the common Christmas downfall of sending out the wrong messages. Revealing a little too much during the Christmas party season isn't the basis for a great long term relationship. Keep it sexy but smart and you can't go wrong.
4. Getting carried away by the mistletoe
There's something about the Christmas season that leads to a very particular kind of dating disaster: moving things on too quickly. A kiss under the mistletoe is one thing, but make sure you're not getting too carried away by all that tinsel and remember that your memories of your close encounter will be there for life, not just for Christmas. Keep your usual wits about you and don't be dazzled by the sparkle into going further than you would normally with your dating partner.
5. Being a wallflower
Despite the dangers of moving too fast or making moves when you shouldn't, the Christmas season is really good time to meet new people. Dating at Christmas can be a lot of fun because there is so much going on, so if you'd like to start dating then don't be afraid to mingle at those Christmas parties - you might just find a special Christmas present that you'll want to keep forever!

b. They'd never dream of making you give up.
c. They've never really thought about it.
What your answers mean...
Mostly A: About time, too!
You sound like you've been dating for years, not just months. Spending Christmas together will top off a great year for you both, whether you spend it at your parents', their parents', or your own place.
Just take care that you're not getting too cosy too fast. Savour the getting-to-know-you stage before you get too used to sharing the washing up.
Mostly B: Spend Christmas together - but respect their space
You're still in the lust stage. You're not terribly fussed about showing him or her off to Mum and Dad, but you'd be frustrated and bored silly if you spent Christmas apart.
That said, don't railroad your dating partner into a joint Christmas, especially at your parents' place. Your new lover may get cold sweats (and cold feet) at the thought of meeting your mum, let alone being nice about her food.
Mostly C: Don't even think about it
Your relationship is far too new for you to be doing the Christmas Day thing together. Don't drag them to your mum's for the day until you've been dating for longer and your relationship is on steadier ground.
Meet up for dinner or a few drinks, or talk on the phone if distance is an issue. If you find yourselves pining for each other, you can always get together for New Year's Eve.

Men: Returning to the World of Dating

If you were last single in your teens or twenties, forget everything you knew, or thought you knew about dating. The world is different, women are different, and most importantly, dating expectations are different.
One of the biggest mistakes men make on the first or first few dates, according to single women, is talking too much. From the women's point of view, I hear, "He was so boring (dull/self-centered); all he did was talk about himself."
After talking with so many single men over the years of my practice, what I suspect is they are trying to put their best foot forward. Or, they want the woman to know them. They may think they are sharing. They have no idea they come across as pontificating.
So, to help you men, here's something to consider. Based on my research about gender conversation, men do a Parallel Talk while women do a Verbal Tennis.
Parallel Talk is when one person talks about whatever he wants and the other listens. This can be five minutes or 15 or longer. When finished, the other then talks about whatever he wants. The conversation goes along parallel lines, never/rarely intersecting.
Verbal Tennis is when one person hits the topic across the net and the other hits it back. They go back and forth on that topic, until one hits it to a different part of the court. Then they change topic, but continue hitting back and forth on that topic.
So, when men talk to each other, no problem. They are comfortable and familiar with their talking pattern. With married couples, the women may have just gotten used to the pattern and don't judge the man by it.
When women talk with each other, no problem.
So, the only problem comes for you - trying to get back into the world of single women.
The other big problem for single men is they sometimes forget to ask questions. Typically, research shows, men are less likely to ask questions about the other person. Again, when talking with men, it's not a problem. But, with women, ask. Find out about them by asking questions, not expecting them to tell you about themselves. As so many men tell me, if a woman wants me to know something about herself, she'll tell me. Not necessarily, so don't count on it.
So, here are two easy tips:
Easy tip: Play Verbal Tennis. Ask questions, let her tell about herself. Respond to comments she makes. If you respond about something about yourself, don't forget to get back to her; it was her tennis shot.

Online Dating Services: Challenges

ByElmer Rickey
Online dating services can be challenging sometimes. The first challenge that online dating services face is anonymity. Online dating services are highly anonymous. This is a big challenge especially to the partners. Partners do not know one another before hand and they largely rely on the information given by the other partner. Online partner can decide to use different names, different photos and even give wrong information altogether. This is a challenge to unearth whether the information given is true or not.
Online dating sites too can be challenging in terms of the determining the seriousness of the partner. Partners start dating and sometimes they do it for fun. It can be a challenge to know what partner is serious and which one is not. It is possible to get one partner who is very serious and the other one who is not. This may lead to future frustrations to the serious partner. It becomes a challenge therefore to know who is serious about building relationships. Sweet words are not enough as they can lure one's thinking ability. Some people are so good at lying to the extent that they turn lying into reality.
Relationship questions asked over the internet may be challenging too. This is because one does not know the behavior of the person he or she is asking these questions. One may not be able to determine what to ask so as not to annoy his or her partner. The relationship is very immature at this stage because there has been no physical contact yet. This can be challenging to both partners on what questions to ask and which ones not to.
Cultural background, social background and even religion can be different. This can be challenging to many because bonding may be a problem. A Single in LA may have a different cultural background from other people. This can be largely because of the environment at which they grew in. bonding with different cultures online is a challenge. Furthermore, different cultures have different beliefs that one may not like. Although there is need for diversity, it is important to note that others are unable to bond together.
Meeting can also be a challenge. Meeting a total stranger can be challenging because one is not sure he or she is going to meet before hand. This is because one may be threatened to meet someone who may turn to be a robber, gangster or even a killer. Such cases may challenge someone because safety matters most. Singles in LA for instance can fear going to far places to meet someone they have never met before. The character of the partner cannot be established before hand.
Where to find love online sites can be challenging because of technology. Online dating requires that one is conversant with technological tools. One who is not conversant with technological tools may not be able to access the services. Furthermore, it requires that one owns technological gadgets that can be used for communication. This can be challenging to the people who cannot own them and the conservative generation.

The Midlife Dating Dance: He Stepped on My Toe

ByBrenda K Clevenger
I put myself in dating timeout this summer following two intense back-to-back relationships that together lasted 16 years of my life. For the past two seasons I've only cracked the dating door three inches (three different male suitors for those of you who don't read code), only to shut and dead bolt it again for more introspection.
My three brief dating dances were with handsome, successful, and intelligent men all of whom I could have spent more time with casually, but I only felt chemistry with one. Of course he was the bad boy of the bunch who self confessed up front that he had commitment issues. So that dance card went back to the cashier barely used.
The other two gentlemen remain friends and I wish them love, happiness, and at least one last chance. There's a lid for every pot.
Breaking out my dating dance shoes seemed promising this last round. Conversation flowed easily for hours on end. My confidence was high. I felt good. I felt hopeful. Then...
Dancer three told me he wanted a partner who could contribute equally on dates, vacations, and in expenses in life. He wanted a giver, not a taker.
I've never been a gold digger and have always contributed in my relationships through helping with the business, the household, the children or whatever. Still this giver/taker comment caused me pause.
Though I could pay for my own cover charges, drinks, and pizza, I told him I wasn't in the best financial position because of the slow freelance writing market and economy in general. He said that was OK, I had potential.
Ouch. Isn't that like saying she has good personality but isn't much to look at? To me it was unkind. On another date, as I was explaining how rebuilding my life was so much harder than I ever imagined since the breakup, he interrupted to inject, "Your choices got you here, your choices will get you out." So much for empathy. Was that the sound of bone cracking?
After a few other dating missteps and a question about the complexity of my tax returns, I quietly excused myself from the dance floor to get some band-aids for my toes.
No they aren't broke, thanks for asking. I just have them elevated while I wait for a meeker, more compassionate soul to listen to the music with me, hold me close and sway to the music without bodily harm.
Takeaways & Dating Tips for Those in the Dance:
You're either in or out. Don't re-enter the dating circuit if you're half in, half out.Take full responsibility for your part in the dance.Dating isn't like ordering off a menu. You can't just tick down your list and have a happy meal. If you're that picky of an eater, you'd better enjoy your own company, a lot.The first month of dating is the exploratory phase, not the dissect your subject and place him or her under a microscope. (Note to self.)Try not to talk about your exes for as many dates as possible. This is extremely tough for midlifers with baggage, but make it a game with a buzzer noise if possible. It just doesn't serve getting to know each other by talking about the past.If someone leans in to give you a kiss and you pull away, you're either not ready or they're not it.Dating is supposed to be fun. If you're not looking forward to the date or the dance pick another partner.Dating later in life can be a bit awkward. Be patient, give it time. It will come back to you.

Dating Chinese Girls at Christmas

? Or want to know if it's important to your Chinese girlfriend, either online or in person. Maybe you think Christmas is a western celebration so Chinese people don't really care about it.
Well, be careful if you think that way, as you may miss the perfect chance to impress your potential girlfriend or even make an embarrassing mistake by thinking it's not important to her.
Chinese celebrations and Christmas
The most popular celebration in China, is the 'spring festival', you will probably more commonly know this as 'Chinese new year'. This is the closest equivalent to Christmas that the Chinese have. During spring festival week, pretty much all the shops close and everyone stays with their family, just like it is for us at Christmas.
So, do the Chinese actually care about, or celebrate Christmas? Well surprisingly, the answer is 'yes', but they don't celebrate it the same as westerners.
Christmas in China
When I first moved to mainland China years ago, no one cared about Christmas at all. It was a foreign holiday that had no place whatsoever in Chinese culture. It was truly a joy to be able to go to any restaurant on Christmas day, and then onto a bar later to celebrate.
It was so different from back home, where everything basically closed down, and everyone had family duties to attend to. Christmas in China was great. Note I said 'was'!
Chinese Culture and assimilation
The interesting thing about Chinese culture is that no other invading countries culture has ever been able to change it in any noticeable way. The Mongols themselves after invading China a couple of generations later, had given up on trying to change the indigenous Chinese and essentially started to follow Chinese culture and practice themselves.
Any Mongolian customs were simply assimilated, and thereafter classed as 'Chinese culture'!
Something similar, and a bit strange, is now happening with Christmas day in China.
The 'New' Chinese Lovers Day
In China between June, to the end of August, and following the lunar calendar, is what is known commonly as 'Chinese lovers day'. On this day although there are some traditional things people are supposed to do, most Chinese couples simply do what westerners traditionally do on Valentines day, and go out for a romantic meal.
By the way, Chinese people also celebrate Valentines day too! And this is where Christmas day enters.
Chinese people now celebrate Christmas day as a romantic valentines day, part three, you could say.
Advice
If you are dating Chinese girls, they will expect you to spend this holiday with them by taking them for a romantic meal; and generally doing some romantic things with her/for her, will be much appreciated.
But forget to pay her any attention on this day, and she will really be disappointed. It's no matter to her that it's a western religious festival that isn't part of her culture. She'll only care that all her other friends are going out with their boyfriends and she is not!
If your girlfriend is thousands of miles away then a romantic email, or even a phone call will probably do the trick.
One final piece of advice, if you are in mainland China and are , then make sure you book a table at a restaurant before the day, as if you don't, you'll be lucky if you can find a table in KFC, let alone another restaurant. Still, chicken is always a favorite in China, so you could do worse really.
Sam C Reeves has lived in China for over eight years and dated a wide variety of Chinese women and also married one. 9 Budget Ways To Have Fun Dating in a Recession

ByJames Lawrie
Fed up with the depressing headlines on the Euro crisis and American budget balancing problems? Dating can be a great antidote to the negativity. The good news is credit crunch or no credit crunch you can have great dates on a budget. Remember safety is imperative so some of these suggestions are not suitable for first time meetings. Initial dates should always be in a safe and public place.
1) Nature is Free!
Parks can be some of the most romantic settings. Whether you just want to go for a stroll or feed the ducks in the lake, a public park can make the perfect environment. If it's your first date it can also be a bit less intimidating as the range of activity means awkward silences while struggling for platitudes over the dinner table can be avoided.
2) Prepare a Picnic
We have all been to places where an ice-cream can cost more than a three course meal at home so why not go prepared? If you are spending the day with your date then sandwiches and snacks can be the perfect alternative to breaking your bank overdraft. Of course, if your date prefers fine dining and you prefer a ham roll picnic then maybe that's already a pretty good sign you're just not compatible.
3) Museums on a Rainy Day
Museums, art galleries and antique fairs can make the perfect budget date when rain clouds rule out outdoor pursuits. Besides, if you know that your prospective partner has a fascination for these activities then what better way to impress. These venues present stimulating conversational topics that can make a first date fun rather than fraught. If the sun peeps out then street markets and a guided tour around your local town can give you and your date a memorable day.
4) All the Fun of the Fair
Browse your local paper or search online for community festivals and fairs. Entrance fees are often free or of nominal cost. Laughter is the perfect way to get to know each other on a first date. Show your lighter side as you try to throw the hoops around the cuddly toys and win a prize for your date. If you are an adrenalin junkie then check your partner shares you love of being thrown upside down on an 80 mph helter-skelter ride before booking tickets!
5) Visit an Auction House
These can be very entertaining places although not ideal for a first meeting as conversation is restricted. Just watching the skill of the auctioneer at work and the array of fascinating objects up for sale is an ideal way to spend fun time with a prospective loved one. Just remember that the whole purpose is to keep in budget so try not to twitch too much when the 14th Century Ming vase comes up for sale!
6) Volunteer and Go Green
No, not green with envy we are talking green dating! Or if you are both environmentally minded then join together by participating in the countless green projects that need volunteers. Get to know each other and simultaneously save the planet. Dating doesn't have to be selfish or expensive; relationships can prosper by joining together to give a helping hand to the less fortunate.
7) Date at Home
An evening in doesn't have to be dull. Draw the curtains, get the popcorn in and watch that DVD you have both been longing to see in your very own movie house. Try some cooking together and check the veracity of the saying the key to a man's (or woman's) heart is through the stomach. If the sun is shining then why not prepare a barbeque in the garden?
8) Quiz Nights
Many pubs and clubs often have fun quiz nights where you can take your date along and impress with you knowledge of trivia. For the price of a drink and a small entry fee it's a low cost way to have a fun-filled evening. This is not recommended if you are likely to answer 'goosey goosey' when quizzed on Gandhi's first name!
9) The Best Dates in Life are Free
Yes it's a variation of the old cliché but true nonetheless. A walk in an area of outstanding beauty can be a fitting environment to help make romance blossom. If you have chosen someone from an online dating site it's quite likely they will have shared hobbies. Going biking, walking or rollerblading together can highlight your compatibility without costing the earth.
